Longing - Chapter 1 (snippet #23)...
“When are you going to talk to her?”
Taylor flinched and jerked away from the door. “Donna, hey.” The middle-aged nurse crossed her arms over her chest and cocked her head to the side. Taylor knew that look all too well. “I was just on my way—”
“To see your dad. Yeah, yeah. Got any new material?” Donna sighed as she leaned against the wall next to Taylor.
“Hilarious.” Taylor scowled at her friend.
Donna saw past the walls that Taylor tried so hard to keep up. Perception seemed to be the nurse’s go-to talent. “Sorry, kiddo, it’s just… It’s been, what, two years? I’m just saying that while you have the opportunity, you should take it. Life’s too short to waste.”
