Longing - Chapter 1 (snippet #20)... 


Taylor leaned against the doorframe, mesmerized by the lilt of Zoe’s voice as she read A Little Princess for the hundredth time. Her charcoal gray yoga pants were cuffed so they didn’t drag the floor. Her feet were bare and her toes were painted the deepest shade of blue. She wore a baggy forest green sweatshirt that hung loosely on her small frame, as if it belonged to a boyfriend. Although, Taylor had never seen a boy stop by for a visit. Of course it wasn’t like Taylor had twenty-four hour surveillance on her, but she did indulge her desire to check on Zoe’s progress several times a week since the first time she heard her reading to the children.
