Set-up (last week)... Greta runs away from her surprise engagement party through the woods. Pax saves her from a shadow demon. Oh, and he's a unicorn!

He followed and sat on the chair at the end of the coffee table, his gaze locked on me. “No demon has ever figured out how to obtain immortality from monoceros blood. So the next best thing to feed on is witches.”
Icy goosebumps skated along my arms at the thought of a demon feeding on me. A thousand questions whirled in my mind, but I didn’t know which to ask first. I decided to go with the most pertinent. “Does it want to kill me?”
“Eventually, yes.”

I'm a bit confused, if it does give the demon immortality to go after the unicorn, while would they even bother go after a witch if she is only second best?
