“Geez…Sorry I asked.” I huffed and set my coffee on the table with a thud.
Silence stretched between us for a long moment then he reached over and took my hand in his. He caressed my knuckles as he spoke. “I’m sorry; I wish I could tell you more. But I can’t. The only thing you need to know is that the demon will stop at nothing to have you. And as your guardian, I will do everything I can to protect you.”
