Today I'm sharing from my (unpublished) young adult paranormal romance Running From Shadows, currently being read by a lovely agent and an editor!! Squee!!

Follow Greta Shore (a 17-year-old, black-haired wiccan beauty) and Paxton "Pax" Craig (an 18-year-old, blond-haired college student with a dark secret) as they discover the fate of their forbidden love.

(Last week) Set-up... Pax puts away the first aid kit and instead of kissing her like she hopes for he says she can ask him a question. Great. Her heart sinks. Then she gets ahold of herself and asks, "So how do you know I'm marked?" He answers, "Your shadow's gone."

“What? No it isn’t.” Eyeballing the floor, I saw my familiar faint outline. “It’s right there.” I pointed to the light-colored hardwood. “Wait. That’s weird.”

“It didn’t move. Did it?” 

She waves her hands above her head, despite the sharp pain in her shoulder. Nope. Nada. Her shadow doesn't move. Just a cookie-cutter shape of her. What the freak is going on?
