Today I'm sharing from my (unpublished) young adult paranormal romance Running From Shadows!

Follow Greta Shore (a 17-year-old, black-haired wiccan beauty) and Paxton "Pax" Craig (an 18-year-old, blond-haired college student with a dark secret) as they discover the fate of their forbidden love.
(Read last week's post. Set-up) Greta runs away from her surprise engagement partthrough the woodsPax saves her from a shadow demon. Oh, and he's a unicorn!
Back at Pax's cabin, Greta and Pax talk. He tells her that the shadow has fed on her emotions. And that it's definitely someone she knows. And she must under no circumstance confront it because it will kill her. And don't get emotional about anything! >.< Pax takes Greta home. Now, her mother wants to discuss the betrothal. She says that Greta's stalker/betrothed (Bain) loves her, and they're are 'certain' things to consider...

I stopped opposite her on the other side of the table and threw my hands in the air. “Like what?”

“Like having someone who understands and supports your heritage.”

Looking into her eyes felt off. Or maybe it was me. Maybe I looked at her differently now. Either way her gaze seemed hollow. “Tell me this isn’t about my father.”

Tune in next week for more angsty spooky goodness!

Thanks again for stopping by! Your support and feedback is greatly appreciated!

  1. This next part of the conversation should be very interesting indeed - you really have my attention. Great snippet!

  2. Dun dun dun...what about her father? You got me wanting more! Excellent eight.

  3. Adding to the mystery. . .in eight sentences you have us wanting more. Music to your ears or is that the baby bump calling. Love from Charmaine

  4. Every 8 sentences you deepen the mystery more. I'm anxious and trepidatious to see where this goes!!

  5. I wonder what's going on with her mom... And now we have to wonder what's the deal with her father??? Yikes! Loads of mystery and building tension!

  6. Typical mom - wanting to protect her kid from making the same mistakes she did. And typical kid - not wanting to listen! :)

  7. 'Understands and supports her heritage,' huh? That sounds like a good thing, but not like it should be the only thing. Reminds me of the high class marriages from the Victorian period, when all you needed in common was to be the same class and know the same people.
Definitely feel like the mom is hiding something!

  8. Oh, yeah, easy to talk about her father when he is not there.
