Today I'm sharing from my (unpublished) young adult paranormal romance Running From Shadows!

Follow Greta Shore (a 17-year-old, black-haired wiccan beauty) and Paxton "Pax" Craig (an 18-year-old, blond-haired college student with a dark secret) as they discover the fate of their forbidden love.
 ****
(Read last week's post. Set-up) Greta runs away from her surprise engagement partthrough the woodsPax saves her from a shadow demon. Oh, and he's a unicorn!
Back at Pax's cabin, Greta and Pax talk. He tells her that the shadow has fed on her emotions. And that it's definitely someone she knows. And she must under no circumstance confront it because it will kill her. And don't get emotional about anything! >.< Pax takes Greta home. Now, she has to face...her mother! Only Aunt Lil greets her, and they talk about the marriage contract her mother signed... Eep!

The clip clap of her shoes on the stairs told me she practically charged down them.

Here it comes. Keep it together.

“Gretal Renee Shore.”

Holy Goddess, Mom was pissed. She rarely ever called me anything besides “hun” or “dear.” Now she’d whipped out the whole deal. First, Middle, Last...I was so screwed.

Tune in next week for more angsty spooky goodness!

Thanks again for stopping by! Your support and feedback is greatly appreciated!

  1. It is SOOO never a good sign when the full name comes out! Oy. I feel for her.

  2. You capture the youth and spirit of the girl. Fun to read about this spunky girl. Thanks.

  3. Oh yes, you have the mother's tone just perfectly! I actually tested the full names when we were picking out baby names because I wanted to be able to achieve that perfect tone when I had to LOL. Great snippet!

  4. Sounds like mom is really pissed off.

  5. Nothing worse than hearing Momzilla coming up the stairs. Especially if you were doing something in your room that you shouldn't be doing, which I usually was.

  6. Ah, this is so funny. I knew exactly how much trouble I was in by how much of my name was called : ) If I got all three--yikes, look out! Brought back memories : )

  7. I wonder what it is that the more of your name your parents use, the more trouble you're in? Whatever the reason, it strikes fear into my heart--I can remember knowing I was in trouble just from hearing my name, too.

It's a funny moment when it's not happening to you, though.

  8. Well she escaped the engagement her mum planned so she had it coming. Let's just hope her mum is only pissed and not the demon trying to kill her.
