Check your emotions, woman. Arrg, Pax! >.< RUNNING FROM SHADOWS #WeWriWa #8Sunday #YAPNR

Today I'm sharing from my (unpublished) young adult paranormal romance Running From Shadows!

Follow Greta Shore (a 17-year-old, black-haired wiccan beauty) and Paxton "Pax" Craig (an 18-year-old, blond-haired college student with a dark secret) as they discover the fate of their forbidden love.
Set-up (last week)... Greta runs away from her surprise engagement partthrough the woodsPax saves her from a shadow demon. Oh, and he's a unicorn!
Back at Pax's cabin, Greta and Pax talk. He tells her that the shadow has fed on her emotions. And that it's definitely someone she knows. And she must under no circumstance confront it because it will kill her. And don't get emotional about anything! >.< Oh, but wait, Pax has more to say...

“Besides, your biggest problem right now is that you’re marked.”

I must’ve looked skeptical, because he reached out and took my hands in his. “You have to try.” Blood burned in my cheeks but, for once, it wasn’t anger or embarrassment. “If you can check your emotions, the demon won’t have anything to feed on. It’ll become weak and make mistakes. And when it does, I’ll be ready to destroy it.”

Tune in next week for more angsty spooky goodness!

  1. Good advice always. Check your emotions and don't show weakness. Good eight!

  2. Kinda hard to check her emotions when he's holding her hand LOL. Pax doesn't get it about her emotions - another excellent excerpt!

  3. It's a tough thing to keep your emotions in check. I hope she's able to do it!

  4. Good advice, though I can't help thinking that every time someone tells me to calm down the opposite always seems to happen. Another great snippet, Karen!

  5. But now...he's told her if she can keep her emotions under control he can take care of the problem. Great incentive to follow the advice! I would think if you know someone can destroy the demon, it'd be easier to keep calm.

  6. ooh nice! I love how he counsels her and her genuine reactions to him.

  7. Enjoyed the excerpt! Can't wait to see what happens next.

  8. Keeping calm might be doable but what about her feelings for Pax, and trying to explain or not explain this to the fiance? Wow. Lots of conflict coming up!
