Weekend Writing Warriors: Mixed signals much? Sheesh... RUNNING FROM SHADOWS #8Sunday #PlayListVid

Thank you for stopping by. I'm excited to participate with such a fantastic group of writers! Check out other warriors here!

Today I'm sharing from my (unpublished) young adult paranormal romance Running From Shadows, currently being read by a lovely agent!! Squee!!

Follow Greta Shore (a 17-year-old, black-haired wiccan beauty) and Paxton "Pax" Craig (an 18-year-old, blond-haired college student with a dark secret) as they discover the fate of their forbidden love.
 ****
Set-up... Pax saves Greta from a shadow demon and then has prove that he's a unicorn. He's stubborn though and won't shift into his full monoceros form, so he only shows her his horn. Still, she's in awe of what she sees. There's a moment between them when she hopes for things to happen, but instead he tells her she smells. She's horrified until he explains that witches smell different than his kind. So she asks: What do I smell like?

“Miserable,he said, reaching out to squeeze my hand like he wanted to cheer me up.

What was with him? He gave off way too many mixed signals.

“Why don’t you go get cleaned up, and I’ll make us some coffee? Then I’ll take you home.”

Guess the cheer-me-up session was over.

Tune in next week for more Greta and Pax!!

Thanks again for stopping by! Your support and feedback is greatly appreciated!

  1. Well this is a bumpy relationship for sure. I'd react about like she did, I think. Intriguing excerpt, certainly not going as I expected!

  6. Well, just about all animals (and Unicorns, too?) have a lot better sense of smell than humans do.

  11. I love that witches smell miserable. Hmm...

  12. Telling someone they smell miserable is probably not the best first step in cheering them up... LOL Unless he can smell emotions and he's just not good at explaining that?
