Panic builds... Face a demon or her angry mother? O_o RUNNING FROM SHADOWS #8Sunday #YAPNR

Today I'm sharing from my (unpublished) young adult paranormal romance Running From Shadows!

Follow Greta Shore (a 17-year-old, black-haired wiccan beauty) and Paxton "Pax" Craig (an 18-year-old, blond-haired college student with a dark secret) as they discover the fate of their forbidden love.

(Read last week's post. Set-up) Greta runs away from her surprise engagement partthrough the woodsPax saves her from a shadow demon. Oh, and he's a unicorn!
Back at Pax's cabin, Greta and Pax talk. He tells her that the shadow has fed on her emotions. And that it's definitely someone she knows. And she must under no circumstance confront it because it will kill her. And don't get emotional about anything! >.< Pax takes Greta home. Now, she has to face...her mother! Only Aunt Lil greets  and wraps a blanket around her shoulders.

Nerves kept me on the edge of the couch. Panic swelled in my stomach like a balloon. Mom had done this to me—put me in this hellish situation—and here I sat with guilt clawing at my insides. What did I have to feel bad about? Yeah, sure, I’d run off and hadn’t called. Aunt Lil had looked really upset when she saw me. But dammit, I’d just got marked by a demon and practically saw a unicorn. She could get over herself.

Tune in next week for more angsty spooky goodness!

  1. Nice to read that after all she's been through her mother still has an affect!

  2. I enjoy her voice and reading her reactions to everything. It's funny how whatever happens a teenager's worst fear can still be her mother.

  3. Parents. The bane of every teenagers existence. Demons and unicorns aside.

  4. And seemingly sweet and Lil is another suspect for being a demon...hmm.

  7. I love the way your heroine thinks, so teen-ager in tone. She really is having her adventures - great snippet!

  8. Hah! That last line is funny. Somehow I doubt her mom is going to see it that way.
