Today I'm sharing from my (unpublished) young adult paranormal romance Running From Shadows!
Follow
Greta Shore (a 17-year-old, black-haired wiccan beauty) and Paxton
"Pax" Craig (an 18-year-old, blond-haired college student with a dark
secret) as they discover the fate of their forbidden love.

(Read last week's post. Set-up) Greta runs away from her surprise engagement party through the woods. Pax saves her from a shadow demon. Oh, and he's a unicorn!
Back at Pax's cabin, Greta and Pax talk. He tells her that the shadow has fed on her emotions. And that it's definitely someone she knows. And she must under no circumstance confront it because it will kill her. And don't get emotional about anything! >.< Pax takes Greta home. Now, she has to face...her mother! Only Aunt Lil greets her and wraps a blanket around her shoulders, reminding her it wasn't smart to go in the Red Forest at night.

Everyone always made those kinds of comments, but no one ever really said why it was such a bad place. It hadn’t stopped me though. Something drew me to those woods and not just tonight. As a child, I would’ve lived out there if Mom and Aunt Lil had let me.
“I know, but I had to get away.”
“I can understand. I’m still in shock about tonight’s turn of events myself.” My aunt’s soothing voice and level tone normally calmed my fears...Not tonight.

Tune in next week for more angsty spooky goodness!

Why are teenagers so hard headed? Greta seems determined not to listen. Hope it doesn't turn out badly for her! Great 8, chica!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure she'll be going back out there...excellent excerpt!
ReplyDeleteWhy is she drawn to those woods? Hmm, got me wondering.
ReplyDeleteI checked out your pics on Pinterest. The girls are pretty, but the unicorn is downright beautiful.
ReplyDeleteDemons in the woods? or something else... good 8 :)
ReplyDeleteWhat "tonight's events" is she referring to?
ReplyDeleteI know my shadow has been nothing but trouble for me. But to me the woods are always a place where even if you think you are alone you never really are alone.
