Today I'm sharing from my (unpublished) young adult paranormal romance Running From Shadows!
Follow
Greta Shore (a 17-year-old, black-haired wiccan beauty) and Paxton
"Pax" Craig (an 18-year-old, blond-haired college student with a dark
secret) as they discover the fate of their forbidden love.
****
(Read last week's post. Set-up) Greta runs away from her surprise engagement party through the woods. Pax saves her from a shadow demon. Oh, and he's a unicorn!
Back at Pax's cabin, Greta and Pax talk. He tells her that the shadow has fed on her emotions. And that it's definitely someone she knows. And she must under no circumstance confront it because it will kill her. And don't get emotional about anything! >.< Pax takes Greta home. Now, her mother tells her Reed Clarkwell--Greta's shrink--suggested the marriage contract. She's gotta stay calm per Pax, and all she can do it lay in bed and THINK about it. This is too much!

(Note: I'll be on vacay next Sunday, so no post for me. But! more unicorn/demon goodness on July 20th!)
The next thing I knew Pink’s “Raise Your Glass” blared in my ear. Obviously Haven had switched my radio station when she’d spent the night Friday, because pop music had to be at least twenty years old before I got into it. I hit snooze. A run this morning clearly wasn’t happening. I stretched before drawing myself up into a tight ball.
Closing my eyes, I pretended I could lie here all day. Unmoving...unfortunately, life kept getting in the way of my sleep. When One Direction rang out, I decided I’d better face reality and get ready.

Tune in next week for more angsty spooky goodness!

Yup, time to move all rght, can't wait to see what happens next. Fun musical snippet!
ReplyDeleteOh man, I feel her pain...it sucks when you haven't gotten enough shut-eye.
ReplyDeleteThe music went right over my head, but I felt for her not wanting to wake up.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are enjoying your vacation. Next time, you can set your blog up to post on the day you're gone, but I must have missed you last week.
ReplyDeleteI like the way you mention specific songs or rock groups, however, if she really only listened to twenty year old music, she wouldn't know the names of modern songs or artists.
I can totally relate to the main character and not wanting to run in the morning. Good description of her reaction.
