Today I'm sharing from my (unpublished) young adult paranormal romance Running From Shadows, currently being read by a lovely agent!! Squee!! 

Follow Greta Shore (a 17-year-old, black-haired wiccan beauty) and Paxton "Pax" Craig (an 18-year-old, blond-haired college student with a dark secret) as they discover the fate of their forbidden love.

(Read last week's post) Set-up... Pax has told Greta that he's a unicorn. A unicorn!!! So, of course, Greta is all: sure, yeah, whatever... Prove it! Pax is stubborn, so he says he won't shift into his full monoceros form, but he will show her his horn. Uh, yeah, his horn!

I rolled my eyes.

“Deal?” He didn’t budge.

I walked to him. “Fine.”

He touched the small of my back as I passed by, and a delicious shock raced through my body.

“So how are we gonna do—” I turned to him, and my mouth fell open. “Whoa.”

I let out a breath I hadn’t realized I’d held onto and turned toward the sound of his voice. His lips pressed into a hard line, almost as if he wanted to say something else but didn’t. “Why? You gonna shift?”

“No.”

I spun away from him.

“I’ll show you my horn.”
 
“Really?”

But Pax is being stubborn, so Greta says she's outta there! Pax has called her bluff, and now she can either risk being in the Red Forest with a demon or admit defeat. Erm, defeat?? Never...

I walked out and closed the door behind me.

Other than the moon and the light coming through the windows, darkness pooled all around me. The demon could be anywhere, hiding in any number of shadows.

Sucking in a deep breath, I wiped my palms on my dress. I’d screwed up. I didn’t want to find my way home alone, in the dark. But if I went back inside, he’d win. Steadying my nerves the best I could, I started down the steps.

Greta's doing it! She's still walking away, even though Pax called her bluff. What will Pax do?? Tune in next week for more Greta and Pax!! ;)
