I'd rather face the shadow demon... RUNNING FROM SHADOWS #8Sunday #YAPNR #unicorns



Today I'm sharing from my (unpublished) young adult paranormal romance Running From Shadows!

Follow Greta Shore (a 17-year-old, black-haired wiccan beauty) and Paxton "Pax" Craig (an 18-year-old, blond-haired college student with a dark secret) as they discover the fate of their forbidden love.

(Read last week's post. Set-up) Greta runs away from her surprise engagement partthrough the woodsPax saves her from a shadow demon. Oh, and he's a unicorn! 
Back at Pax's cabin, Greta and Pax talk. He tells her that the shadow has fed on her emotions. And that it's definitely someone she knows. And she must under no circumstance confront it because it will kill her. And don't get emotional about anything! >.< Pax drives Greta home. He leaves but not without saying he won't be far...watching ;)

I nodded and picked my shoes up off the dewy grass, where I’d slung them earlier. Forcing myself to breathe deeply, I climbed the stairs and walked to the door.

Right now, I’m pretty sure I’d rather face the shadow demon.

What were the chances Mom had gone to bed? Probably not good considering her only child had run off into the night hours ago without as much as a phone call.

I glanced behind me for one last look at the slayer of darkness. He stood in the shadows now, still watching. I smoothed my palms on the side of the dress, opened the screen door slowly—so it wouldn’t creak—and turned the doorknob.

Longing - Chapter 1 (snippet #28)... 

She shoved the list into the glove compartment and then palmed her phone, staring at the black screen. Just a couple of clicks and she could have an app that would allow her access to Zoe’s musings any time of day. No, she shouldn’t do this. Eventually the posts would stop and Taylor would be empty. Humans died. That was a simple fact. She had already begun to prepare herself for her father, mother and brother’s deaths. Hopefully they would be many, many years from now. Zoe’s—she couldn’t make herself use the word in the same thought with the beauty—on the other hand could be weeks, days, hours away.

Still, it wasn’t as though they were talking in person. This would be a casual thing, talking on Twitter. And, Zoe may not even follow Taylor back. She swiped the phone and downloaded the app. A few more swipes to upload a picture of a knight’s helmet for her avitar—a reminder that she shouldn’t be doing this—another few quick taps to add her profile and screen name. She followed a few random people and organizations so that it wouldn’t look like she was only following Zoe.

Hubs finally hung the print I got for Christmas! Love Starry Night! Mucho story inspiration :D

This is an ACTUAL paper book! I know, gasp, right? It's been so long! Don't tell my Kindle I'm cheating. Thx.

This movie was...very psycho. I actually really enjoyed it tho. Interesting look at humanity.

Can't remember if I blogged this yet or not, but if so, it still bears repeating :P

They have to be fantasies. He's just a really hot guy. That's all.

Yup, that’s definitely it.

He’d rescued me and my thoughts had run away with me… Or maybe it was part of his unicorn charm.

He set me down in the grass next to the porch then just stood there. Watching me. What was he thinking? Why didn’t he say anything? His face was obscured by moonlight and shadows but somehow I thought I knew how he would look in the daylight, his skin painted gold by the sun, instead of—

“You’d better go,” he said.

Longing - Chapter 1 (snippet #27)... 


(Chapter 2) Taylor left the hospital with a heavy heart. She should be relieved that she now had a list of six more acceptable victims to appease the monster inside of her. Taking a deep breath, she shoved the gearshift into park and tapped her head against the headrest. How could she have walked away like that? Zoe had finally seen her, spoken to her.

Not the time for this.

Taylor had an art history class to get to. She grabbed her phone from the cup holder and clicked it on. 11:15AM. Fifteen minutes to make her way to class. A chill clawed its way up her spine, and she turned the heat on high. How would she make it until tonight when the vet’s shift ended? Her beast required a sacrifice.

Random Alert! Alert. Alert. Alert...
Totally thought of Twilight when I saw this. I saw the movie first before I read the books, and I thought...surely there has to be more going on when Bella and Edward were just staring at each other. I had to know more! lol So I bought the books 5 minutes after seeing the first movie :) LOVED. THEM.

A dam I passed by over Christmas. It made me think of Breena from Witch Way to Turn :)
